In the UK, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) contributes to 35,000 deaths per year
What we do
AMR Action UK is the leading UK patient charity for Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
We support those affected by AMR, and advocate for the changes that can happen right now – in all four nations of the UK – to protect people and families.
We do this by:
- Providing direct support services for patients and families
- Funding patient-centred research
- Empowering people with lived experience to have their voices heard by policy-makers, and by NHS leaders
- Campaigning for the changes patients want and need.

If I had the right antibiotics to deal with it, it might be that I didn’t develop antibiotic resistance. That’s hugely frustrating because it’s affected my life and it’s affected the people that I care about.
Tracy
It went from being okay one day to within 24 hours… I nearly lost my life.
Kelly
I think the problem with antibiotics resistance is that a lot of it is skimmed over because until it happens to you or it happens to a loved one, you don't really think about it. But when it happens to you, and you understand the problems, then it's a whole different ball game.
Tracy
I had to be isolated when I was in hospital. I had to use a separate bathroom from my husband when I got out of hospital. These were things I never knew about before but only found out and am knowledgeable on now since treatment.
